Free Initial Claim Assistance
Why do it for free?
Well for one, because it's the law. Federal law is clear that once a Veteran or Claimant files an intent to file for disability, nobody is allowed to accept payment for assisting or preparing the claim. Only after the VA has made a decision on a claim can a veteran hire professional assistance for the claim. We explain more about those that conduct this type of illegal business practice below.

Veteran Service Organizations
Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) offer representation for free, even when appealing denied claims. Because their services are free they are slammed with assisting veterans. Their case load is high and it can lead to poorly submitted claims. When claims do not provide the necessary evidence they are denied, leaving the veteran with questions. Unfortunately their VSO representative still has a high case load assisting new veterans. This may limit their ability to assist with a quality appeal. This scenario is the reason Northwest VA Consulting was created.
How we will help
We will work with you to complete the necessary forms to file your claim. With your permission we will also review your medical records, answer your questions about the conditions you would like to be evaluated for and offer suggestions on how to make your claim stronger.

Decision Review
Not Happy with the VA's Decision? We will review their findings and discuss our strategy for appeal. If we have represented you on your initial claim, our firm can expedite your appeal because we likely already have access to your medical records.

Appealing Your Claim
Many applicants for VA benefits receive a denial. Although there are many possibilities, most of the time a claim is denied for not demonstrating:

Current Health Condition
The VA requires a current medical condition that impacts your daily life. Sometimes these conditions prevent you from working, or complete tasks of daily living. The VA may require a medical diagnosis from a licensed medical professional.

Your In-Service Event, Illness, or Injury
A current medical condition typically does not guarantee the VA will approve your claim. Veterans must also have evidence that there was an event, illness, or injury during your military service that led to your current disability. An example of an in-service event could be an injury to a leg during a ruck march, or a sick call slip complaining of knee pain.

Nexus
There must be a connection between your current health condition and an in-service event, illness, or injury. A medical professional who understands your medical and military history may be able to provide you with a professional opinion that this “nexus” exists. Northwest VA Consulting may be able to assist. We can investigate the reason for your denial and gather evidence to support your appeal. Our clients receive discount pricing from our preferred medical network.
